Profile:
A/Prof Steven Leibman is an Upper Gastrointestinal, Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgeon. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales in 1994 and then completed his FRACS Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002.
He is a Clinical Lecturer with Sydney University Faculty of Medicine, Lead Clinician UGI and HPB Cancer NSCCAHS, and the Chair North Shore UGI/HPB Multidisciplinary Cancer Team meetings, Past Chair of the Younger Fellow’s Committee RACS and was the Director of Surgical Trauma at Royal North Shore from 2003- 2009.
Steven’s current clinical and academic interest is in bariatric and Upper GIT Surgery. He prides himself in taking a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to his patients with personalised care and support combined with world class surgical techniques.
Steven offers the full range of available bariatric operations including sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, single anastomosis gastric bypass and complex revisional surgery.
Steven performs large numbers of general and Upper GI operations including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, cholecystectomy, abdominal hernias, antireflux surgery for GORD and Hiatus hernia, and Upper GIT cancer surgery.
Steven has held a public hospital appointment at Royal North Shore Hospital since 2004 and is a long standing valued member of the department of surgery at RNSH and in the Northern Clinical School of the University of Sydney.
Steven is happy to see patients face to face or via telehealth appointments and will readily consult on patients outside of Sydney and interstate.
