HCF No-Gap Day Surgery

This program is designed to provide eligible HCF members with more choice and transparency on more affordable care options when undergoing some general surgery procedures at participating hospitals. There is no change to your quality of care.

Your treating surgeon must be participating in the program and will work with you to decide if this program is right for you and your health needs.

If you’re an HCF member you can log in to the HCF My Membership app or online member services to check if your policy includes No-Gap Day Surgery. If you’re not sure you can call HCF on 13 13 14 or visit your nearest HCF branch.

Patients will be given a choice to choose the surgeon that they wish to visit; a list of participating surgeons can be found listed under each of the program sections located above.

Eligible HCF members who use the program won’t incur out-of-pocket costs for the following services as part of the hospital admission at East Sydney Private Hospital:

• hospital admission
• surgeon surgical fee
• anaesthetist surgical fee
• diagnostic tests that are undertaken as part of the procedure.

You may be required to pay a hospital excess, depending on your cover and if you’re claiming for the first time in the calendar year. There may also be some small permitted gaps and additional costs for outpatient appointments, like a visit to your surgeon in their consulting rooms. If you need additional services during your admission (eg. if you have other medical conditions such as diabetes or cardiac conditions), these are not covered by the No-Gap Day Surgery program.

To access the No-Gap Day Surgery program, you must have an active hospital policy with HCF (excluding Overseas Visitors Health Cover) that covers the relevant procedure for at least 12 months. You’ll need to be accepted into the program by East Sydney Private Hospital and your treating surgeon, based on clinical criteria.
