A/Prof Geoff Wilcsek prides himself on taking the time to listen to your needs and making you feel comfortable. He will outline and discuss treatment options so that when you leave the practice you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

A/Prof Wilcsek is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with specialist training in adult and paediatric ocular plastic, lacrimal and orbit surgery. He has always been a keen proponent of working closely with related specialties to improve patient outcomes in complexes case. Other than speaking at Ophthalmology conferences he has also been invited to speak at Head and Neck, ENT and paediatric conferences.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New College of Ophthalmology and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

A/Prof Wilcsek was the Chairman of the Younger Fellows Group of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) between 2003 and 2005. During this time, he sat on the Council of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. More recently he served a three-year term as an elected delegate of the Quality and Education Committee which oversees training of ophthalmologists throughout Australia and New Zealand. He is a RANZCO term supervisor for ophthalmology trainee.

After completing training as an ophthalmologist at the Prince of Wales hospital, A/Prof Wilcsek completed two accredited fellowships in Ocular Plastics and Orbit Surgery overseas.

The first at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Manhattan, New York under Associate Professor Mike Kazim and the second at the Royal Manchester Eye Hospital, Manchester, England, under Dr Brian Leatherbarrow.

On completion of his fellowships in New York and Manchester, A/Prof Wilcsek returned to Australia and chose to focus solely on the highly specialised area of ocular plastic surgery.

“My wife Lauren and I have three school aged children, three dogs and a few chickens for good luck. I’m a keen but untalented surfer, gardener and yoga practitioner, and have always been passionate about travel and language, speaking conversational French and Italian.”
